Trip to NC

We took a fun little trip to NC. Mom, Keela and I went to the spa. We also celebrated Keela’s birthday and met her boyfriend, Will. We had a great time! I miss it so much!

We went to the spa overnight and it was hard to be away from Henry–although I slept 6 hours in a row for the first time in 5 months.  Henry nurses SO much at night–check out how much I pumped after 6 hours–thats 12 ounces pumped in 10 minutes!!

Yearly Hershey Trip

We went to Hershey for our yearly Hershey trip. Sadly, it was raining and very crowded so we only did chocolate world and a very quick lunch. But, we did out traditional shots with the ride height charts! Here is George at 9 months and 20 months!

Its so cool to see him grow and change so much.

And of course, we had to get little Henry-to-be in there, too. Can’t wait to get both boys next year! George will be able to get on so many rides next year–my goodness!!

Ocean City!

Clay, George and I took a little trip to Ocean City, MD a few weekends ago. Clay needed to go for a conference (city council duties) so George and I tagged along for a little while.

George loved the ocean and the sand. We spent a lot of time out of the beach playing and relaxing. We even went to the boardwalk one night. We ate lots of good food and played some games. No rides this year! 🙂

We’ve also realized that George DOES have clay’s skin coloring. He looks pale, but rather than burn like mommy, he gets nice golden brown. But don’t worry–I’m still OBSESSIVE about the sunscreen!!!

More Hawaii Trip!

I found out I was going to Hawaii about a week before I had to leave. I begged Clay to brave the long trip and bring George. I couldn’t imagine being away from him for 9 days. The longest we had been apart previous to this trip was 10 hours.

Plus, I knew we would probably not get to go to Hawaii as a family again any time soon!

George came to Hawaii with Clay and went home with me. He did incredible on both flights. He didn’t sleep for clay, but was very well behaved (though exhausting). My flight was direct on the way home and he slept 7 of the 9 hour trip. I couldn’t get up to pee–but who cares! He was sleeping!

We had a great time while there. Got to see some amazing sites, gorgeous beaches and eat some delicious food. Traveling with an 18 month old is much easier than a 15 month old because George is SO much more self sufficient. Three months makes a huge difference. He slept great (no problems with the time change) and was easy going throughout the entire trip. He loves eating out with us and we never had any trouble at restaurants. Yes, I know we are amazingly blessed to have such an easy guy! Hope it lasts–though this might mean the teenage years are tough! 🙂

Here are some more pics from our trip.

Hawaii-Disney’s Aulani Resort

You might call us a ‘Disney Family.’

Clay and I have been planning family trips to Disney since before we even had children. We each went several times with our families as kids and have such wonderful memories. We can’t wait to recreate those for George and #2.

I knew that Hawaii had a Disney resort so of course we HAD to visit it while there! Sadly, we couldn’t stay there because it was too far from where I was working, but on my day off we spent the day there.

The main event was the character buffet breakfast. It was SO awesome. Everything you expect from Disney. We felt completely taken care of, the food was awesome and everything was centered around the kids. They even had a lowered buffet bar for the little ones with Mickey shaped waffles! George LOVED the characters. He would point to them and laugh and ‘woof woof’ at Goofy. He also had a blast singing along and playing with the other kids. We got our family portrait with Mickey, which is now in our kitchen. 🙂

After breakfast we headed down to the lagoon. It was George’s first time at the ocean and it was simply breathtaking. The perfect spot. All of this confirmed that we will be doing a FULL Disney vacation soon–although I think we will start with the cruise while the boys are still too young to really enjoy the parks.

And of course, George got his very first Mickey to take home with him! He gives it big kisses and sleeps with it every night.

Now for the pics!

Trip to NC

George and I had a fabulous trip to NC this past weekend. It was also a very busy weekend!

Mom, Keela and I took George to the Museum and Life and Science in Durham. We rode the train and visited the butterfly house. I was nervous he was going to love a butterfly to death, but he just pointed–thank goodness!! G’s favorite spot by FAR was the drum area outside. He never wanted to leave!

We also had dinner out followed by Goodberry’s. Dinner was a challenge b/c G was so tired, but he had a BLAST at goodberrys. He sang and danced for all the other patrons. He made a LOT of friends that night. When did he turn into such a ham??

Nana had a little easter egg and basket hunt for him. He LOVED it. He picked up every single egg and we had to applaud him after each one!

George just loves Nana and Pop Pop (as he now calls him) and of course, Auntie Keela! Can’t wait to head down there again.

Friday Favs: Grand Canyon

We made it to the grand canyon! It was beautiful weather and and fairly easy drive. We stayed at the Thunderbird lodge, right on the south rim. The view from our room was incredible. Waking up to the canyon was quite a treat. We took a wonderful sunset tour and ate at some great restaurants. I have to say, I am so impressed with our national park system.

Even at such a young age, George was so impressed by the canyon. He would point and say ‘oooh!!!’ It was so cute. We kept him in the carrier–no walking for him! There was a surprising lack of barriers. But it was nice to be able to feel free to really see the canyon. But little boys stay in our arms.

Seeing the Grand Canyon is something none of us will soon forget! It makes quite the impression.

Petrified Forest

We are out here in Arizona for a family vacation with my side of the family. We are staying in a TINY TINY town out in the middle of nowhere. Apparently, its hard to even find yogurt. Don’t ask me. But its been lovely and relaxing so far…and we have found the cutest local restaurants.

And yesterday, we ventured out to the petrified forest national park and the painted desert. It was gorgeous!

Williamsburg Trip!

We took a little weekend trip to Williamsburg, VA with the Smiths. It was mainly just a relaxing weekend to spend time with friends. We did get out into into the town a little as well. We ate lots of good food at Blue Talon Bistro and King’s Arms Tavern. The boys had a great time playing together. And we say some horses! 🙂

We stayed at a resort near the town and it was great. It had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a dining area and a big living room for kids to play. It even had a little porch. It made eating/playing very easy! It was very inexpensive, too, because we had a groupon.

Here are some pics of the boys playing and meeting horses.

Camping at Jellystone Park

Over thanksgiving weekend we went camping with the Carlyle’s at Jellystone Park in Maryland.

We got the deal awhile ago and got cabins since we knew it would be chilly! Its the way to camp in the winter! We still got to have the fun camp fires and outside time, but we had a heated place to retreat to–and more importantly–sleep in!

Some early morning play time.

We went on a really fun walk.

It was pretty chilly!

And there was this huge bouncy thing. George just hung out on the side…he was too little.

But the adults had to get some jumpy time!

A wonderful long weekend with wonderful friends!!
