Friday favs: Pumpkin patch

George went on his first field trip to a pumpkin patch and farm in MD.

Henry and I tagged along and we had a great time with all our daycare friends. We went on a hay ride and other fun adventures.

And George took his time and picked the perfect pumpkin–he takes after his nana!!

Friday Favs: Reading

We love, love, love story time. George is SO into books right now. We read about 5 every night and it will never be enough! We always get a ‘more’ after every one.

However, mommy’s lap space is at a premium right now. Its not the most comfortable, but George doesn’t seem to mind!

Friday Favs: Play Kitchen

As shown in an earlier post, George loves an oven mitt. He also loves ‘helping’ in the kitchen and watching us cook. Lately, however, this has become very strained because he wants me to hold him and he wants to touch hot things. While saying ‘hot.’ Haha.

I want to get him a learning tower soon, but I think he is still a little small for it. So in the mean time we got him a little play kitchen that we put in the kitchen. We also got him some pots and plans, baking dishes and stuffed veggies. And of course, his own little oven mitt.

He LOVES it. Almost TOO much–it caused a few melt downs when he has to stop playing with it.

He loves to stir, taste and take pans in and out of the oven. He has picked up so much just from watching us in the kitchen. He loves to play pretend!

Friday Favs: iPhone Camera

Thank goodness for the iphone camera. The pics aren’t as good…but at least I have them!

I do want to take more pics with my fancy camera, but its hard to get haul it around. I’m thinking about getting a little camera that takes better pics to keep in my purse/diaper bag all the time.

Here are some great pics from the last week! We had an impromptu dinner with friends, lots of outside time and playing around. Oh! And Clay was on TV! He is running for city council and they broadcast the candidate’s forum. Vote for Williams! ūüôā

Friday Favs: Chocolate Ice Cream

Tuesday was a wonderful day. I was feeling good for the first time in months, the weather was amazing and I was really productive at work. George and I had just come home from the park and we all sat down to dinner–this is a big deal because I haven’t been eating with them since I was sick. I couldn’t do the smells or messy eating.

After dinner Clay broke out the chocolate ice cream. George hasn’t really had ice cream before, so we were curious to see how he handled the cold and texture.

He loved it so much. With every bite, he closed his eyes and got the most wonderful, content smile on his face. It was one of those moments I always want to remember. Life was so good for him, he had all he needed–mommy, daddy and chocolaty ice cream. He was still hot from our hour at the park, so it probably made it extra awesome.

I never want to take a moment with my baby for granted, but of course I do. But watching him eat that ice cream, I knew I needed to burn it into my brain. He won’t be little forever–he won’t think his parents and ice cream are the best things ever for long. After awhile the ‘firsts’ will go away and things will become more everyday. But there is nothing like seeing the pleasure of something so simple on your child’s face.

I can still see that smile in my head. Perfection and joy. For him and for me.

Friday Favs: Grand Canyon

We made it to the grand canyon! It was beautiful weather and and fairly easy drive. We stayed at the Thunderbird lodge, right on the south rim. The view from our room was incredible. Waking up to the canyon was quite a treat. We took a wonderful sunset tour and ate at some great restaurants. I have to say, I am so impressed with our national park system.

Even at such a young age, George was so impressed by the canyon. He would point and say ‘oooh!!!’ It was so cute. We kept him in the carrier–no walking for him! There was a surprising lack of barriers. But it was nice to be able to feel free to really see the canyon. But little boys stay in our arms.

Seeing the Grand Canyon is something none of us will soon forget! It makes quite the impression.

Friday Favs: NAPS

George LOVES a nap. He is so good about going down for naps and sometimes he sleeps so long we have to wake him up!

I love having the video camera so we can watch him sleep.

Friday Favs: Children’s Muesum

Well, hello. I’m back! I’ve been SO sick (stomach virus)¬†over the past week I’ve barley been getting basic things done–so the blog fell to the back burner!

So these are some pics from almost 2 weeks ago when we went with another family to the National Children’s Muesum.

George had a blast and we had an incredible lunch at Rosa Mexicana after. The muesum was pretty good–we mostly hung out in the under 3 room.

George loves a button!! SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC

We got scolded for George putting stuff in his mouth–a lady ran over and took it from him and threw it in a bin. I get it–but could have been handled better.¬†¬†SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSC
