George Have Blog

Its hard to be a baby

Memorable

Things going on right now I don’t want to forget later:

1. First thing George says when he wakes up in the morning or from naps is “mama? mama?”  It’s pretty much the best thing ever.

2. His favorite thing right now is the oven mitt. He puts it on his arm and it goes all the way to his shoulder and he says ‘hot! hot!’  Hilarious. WP_20130430_003 WP_20130430_004 WP_20130430_006 WP_20130430_010 WP_20130430_011 WP_20130430_014

3. Clay reads to G every night and the favorites right now are pat the bunny and good night moon. I watch sometimes and love the way he smells the flowers in pat the bunny. He gets so into it.

4. Whenever he gets hungry he points to his mouth and signs ‘eat’ and goes ‘ah, ah’

5. One time he was being a little drama queen and I covered up my mouth so that he wouldn’t see me laugh…but it didn’t work. He just covered his mouth and started laughing just like me.

6. He sings ALL.THE.TIME. Favorites are happy birthday, twinkle twinkle and two songs from daycare. One that ends with him going ‘shhhh’ with his finger to his lips (I asked them about it and they sing it when the kiddos are getting loud–very cute). The other is about body parts and he points to them while singing.

Hard at work

Clay and George worked really hard to get our new table and chairs together. They make a great team and George is already very handy.

Friday Favs: iPhone Camera

Thank goodness for the iphone camera. The pics aren’t as good…but at least I have them!

I do want to take more pics with my fancy camera, but its hard to get haul it around. I’m thinking about getting a little camera that takes better pics to keep in my purse/diaper bag all the time.

Here are some great pics from the last week! We had an impromptu dinner with friends, lots of outside time and playing around. Oh! And Clay was on TV! He is running for city council and they broadcast the candidate’s forum. Vote for Williams! 🙂

Pregnancy Month 4

Second trimester is going well! I’m finally starting to get some relief from the HG, which is fantastic. We are having quite a bit of drama this pregnancy with all the testing, but things are still trucking along well. Baby looks great on ultrasound. Cute little bugger. Looks a lot different that George!

How far along? 17 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: Starting to gain weight back, so now only 7 pounds down.

Maternity clothes? I wear the belly band. Def have a little bump. Mom and I went to Old Navy and got some cute stuff and I got the stuff I lent out back. Won’t be long before I have to break out the big maternity guns.

Stretch marks? Nope. I didn’t get any with G, so hopefully none this time either!

Sleep: I wake up at weird times and don’t sleep super well. Yeah. already.

Movement: Feeling him move a few times a day now, getting stronger and more frequent.

Food cravings: Food is finally becoming my friend again. I’m craving a lot of pickles (so cliche), asian food and mac and cheese.

Gender: BOY

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On. Never had any swelling with G, so hopefully this will be the same.

What I miss: Energy. Its starting to come back, but I have a HUGE list of things to do. Now I just the energy to do them.

What I am looking forward to: Looking a little more pregnant. I love the cute phase where you can really tell a woman is pregnant but she isn’t so huge that you wince when you look at her. Ha.

17 week belly shot:

Trip to NC

George and I had a fabulous trip to NC this past weekend. It was also a very busy weekend!

Mom, Keela and I took George to the Museum and Life and Science in Durham. We rode the train and visited the butterfly house. I was nervous he was going to love a butterfly to death, but he just pointed–thank goodness!! G’s favorite spot by FAR was the drum area outside. He never wanted to leave!

We also had dinner out followed by Goodberry’s. Dinner was a challenge b/c G was so tired, but he had a BLAST at goodberrys. He sang and danced for all the other patrons. He made a LOT of friends that night. When did he turn into such a ham??

Nana had a little easter egg and basket hunt for him. He LOVED it. He picked up every single egg and we had to applaud him after each one!

George just loves Nana and Pop Pop (as he now calls him) and of course, Auntie Keela! Can’t wait to head down there again.

Amber’s Shower

A few friends and I hosted a shower for our good friend Amber. She is due with twin girls in June.

We did a rugby theme for the New Zealanders. We had a great time, played some great games and ate delicious food.

Friday Favs: Chocolate Ice Cream

Tuesday was a wonderful day. I was feeling good for the first time in months, the weather was amazing and I was really productive at work. George and I had just come home from the park and we all sat down to dinner–this is a big deal because I haven’t been eating with them since I was sick. I couldn’t do the smells or messy eating.

After dinner Clay broke out the chocolate ice cream. George hasn’t really had ice cream before, so we were curious to see how he handled the cold and texture.

He loved it so much. With every bite, he closed his eyes and got the most wonderful, content smile on his face. It was one of those moments I always want to remember. Life was so good for him, he had all he needed–mommy, daddy and chocolaty ice cream. He was still hot from our hour at the park, so it probably made it extra awesome.

I never want to take a moment with my baby for granted, but of course I do. But watching him eat that ice cream, I knew I needed to burn it into my brain. He won’t be little forever–he won’t think his parents and ice cream are the best things ever for long. After awhile the ‘firsts’ will go away and things will become more everyday. But there is nothing like seeing the pleasure of something so simple on your child’s face.

I can still see that smile in my head. Perfection and joy. For him and for me.

Easter Morning Fun

We got up nice and early on Easter morning and discovered that the Easter bunny had come for George.

George really got into it. He found ALL the eggs the bunny hid for him and the basket too. Mr. Bunny is so smart and knew to keep the eggs on eye level for our little man.

He loved opening the eggs and finding cheerios. And he had to take everything out of his basket and hug it, then put it back. George is very clean and orderly. 🙂

After our little family Easter we drove up to PA to see my side of the family. We had a great day with lots of yummy food. Clay and I even caught a nap while the fam watched G! Heaven!

Dying Easter Eggs

George had a great time dying Easter eggs. Well, he thought he was dying Easter eggs. Really, mommy and daddy did the dying and George had just water in his cup.

Good thing, too, because all he wanted to do was drink it.

He attempted to eat one of the eggs afterwards, but hard boiled eggs aren’t his thing. Didn’t help that Clay was making a face the whole time. Like father, like son.
