George Have Blog

Its hard to be a baby

Pregnancy Months 1-3

As you might have gathered from George’s big brother announcement I am pregnant again! We were a bit taken aback by this pregnancy. But of course, we are very excited and looking forward to meeting the new little one.

I have been very, very sick again with this one. It started later (around 9wks) than it did with George (that was about 7wks to 16 wks). But it has been just as horrible. The last three weeks have been so challenging. Its much harder this time because I can’t take care of George like normal. Clay does everything for him while I lay on the couch. Its so rough. Should be over soon! I hope!

I decided to do this little pregnancy survey each month for little gummy bear. I wish I had done this with George. I’ll include belly shots later, but there isn’t really a belly to shoot right now. šŸ˜‰

How far along? 13 wks 4 days.

Total weight gain/loss: Lost about 8lbs.

Maternity clothes? I wear the belly band because my stomach is sensitive to my buttoned pants.

Stretch marks? Nope. I didn’t get any with G, so hopefully none this time either!

Sleep: Nausea/vomiting wakes me up several times a night so I am running on empty right now.

Movement: I feel him one or twice a day doing little rolls or kicks.

Food cravings: I’m hungry but can’t keep anything down. I want to eat mac and cheese or crispix most of the time.

Gender: BOY**

Belly Button in or out? In.

Wedding rings on or off? On. Never had any swelling with G, so hopefully this will be the same.

What I miss: Feeling like a human. Energy. Enjoying eating.

What I am looking forward to: Nausea going away (sensing a theme??).

**We had some drama with this pregnancy around some wonky blood test results. We had to do a CVS to make sure that the baby was chromosomalloy healthy and thanks goodness–he is! We also found out for sure that its a boy! We saw the X and Y chromosome. Actually pretty cool. I still have low papp-a levels which means I’ll have to be monitored more often to make sure the baby is growing okay. But for now, all is well!

A haircut

George has some crazy hair. Hair that I love so much.

But then daddy came along and shaved it off. Not cool, daddy. Not cool.

George’s hair was getting a little long. I was going to take him to pigtails and crewcuts for an adorable, controlled and hip haircut. Ā But Clay got out the trimmers and told me he wanted to do it. He PROMISED me that it would be an inch or two long.

He LIED.

I may have picked up hisĀ gorgeousĀ locks that lay helplessly in the tub and cried. Maybe.

In all seriousness–it was a pretty fun experiment. The three of us had a blast and George was a good sport. And I came around pretty quickly after theĀ initialĀ shock wore off!

And gosh, he is pretty darn cute with his hair all spiked up!

Mommy Turns 30!

Today is my birthday and this past weekend Clay threw a wonderful party for me! George had a blast. We all chowed down on Emertia’s chicken and yummy cupcakes. My friends never cease to amaze me with their sweetness and generosity. Friends are such a gift. And Clay totally passed out at the end of it! He was exhausted. šŸ™‚

Friday Favs: Grand Canyon

We made it to the grand canyon! It was beautiful weather and and fairly easy drive. We stayed at the Thunderbird lodge, right on the south rim. The view from our room was incredible. Waking up to the canyon was quite a treat. We took a wonderful sunset tour and ate at some greatĀ restaurants. I have to say, I am so impressed with our national park system.

Even at such a young age, George was so impressed by the canyon. He would point and say ‘oooh!!!’ It was so cute. We kept him in the carrier–no walking for him! There was a surprising lack of barriers. But it was nice to be able to feel free to really see the canyon. But little boys stay in our arms.

Seeing the Grand Canyon is something none of us will soon forget! It makes quite the impression.

Petrified Forest

We are out here in Arizona for a family vacation with my side of the family. We are staying in a TINY TINY town out in the middle of nowhere. Apparently, its hard to even find yogurt. Don’t ask me. But its been lovely and relaxing so far…and we have found the cutest localĀ restaurants.

And yesterday, we ventured out to the petrified forest national park and the painted desert. It was gorgeous!

First Flight!

George had first flight to Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday March 2nd.

He was awesome! He nursed during take off and then fell asleep pretty quickly. He slept for about an hour while Clay and I watched some TV. When he woke up we still had about 3.5 hours to go and we were nervous how he would do. But he was so good! We fed him lunch, took him to the bathroom several times with us and marched him up and down the aisles. He was so well behaved that Clay was even able to take a nap! He never cried and played quietly–most of the time. šŸ™‚

But the other amazing news was that I had my first flight after taking the SOAR fear of flying class. As many of you know, I have an extreme flying phobia. I used medications in the past (with mixed results), but with nursing I could’t use them. So, I invested in the program–and was extremely skeptical. But, somehow, it worked! I was a little nervous during take off (but nothing like before). After the first 5 minutes I was able to relax completely and actually–dare I say it—ENJOY the flight. Its a huge break through for me.
