Its hard to be a baby

Camping at Elk Neck!

on October 9, 2012

George went on his first camping trip last saturday night. The Carlyle’s invited us along on their trip and we were so grateful! I’ve wanted to go camping for years. We had all the supplies, we just needed to go! Thank goodness our friends are so on top of things.

And they couldn’t have picked a better spot! The camp ground was perfect, had a view of the water and beach access. We got there in the afternoon and got all unpacked. George and Laurelea played and explored.

Cory and Clay got the fire going and even chopped wood. Clay was such a sport, even with his poor broken ankle.

Down a little hill from our camp site was a little beach. Misty and I took the kids down and let them play in the water. George had a wonderful time.

They took their shoes off and really got into it!

George ate a rock.

And he got dirty and played. A dirty baby is a happy baby!!

After a change in pants, he had some amazing time with daddy. George is a mover and a shaker, but he just settled in with daddy for a looong cuddle. He just couldn’t get enough daddy time in front of the fire.

We made dinner, put the kids to bed and hung out by the fire. It was so nice to spend time with such good friends.

George slept great, but it was a little tight in our tent. Clay and I were less than comfortable, but next time we will bring better bedding. In the morning, we woke up and hung out with Laurelea in her tent. Breakfast was eggs, beans and sausage. It was raining on and off, but we didn’t get too wet.

We had grand plans to go to the lighthouse for lunch, but the weather didn’t cooperate. We ended up stopping for lunch on the ride home and doing some quick shopping.

All and all and fabulous trip! I hope to go camping again soon, and I think George does too!
